Indonesia’s Defence Ministry is urging warring parties in the Middle East to adhere to international humanitarian law after three of its peacekeepers lost their lives in southern Lebanon.
Defence Ministry spokesman Rico Ricardo Sirait emphasized that the safety of peacekeeping troops must be the primary concern, and all parties involved in the conflict are urged to respect international humanitarian law and guarantee the security of peacekeeping personnel.
Earlier, Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono strongly condemned the “heinous” attacks in southern Lebanon and requested a “swift, thorough and transparent investigation” into the incident.
