Iran’s Acceptance of Ceasefire Proposal Appears Unlikely, Analyst Warns

A Canadian-based political analyst and academic researcher, Marzie Khalilian, expressed skepticism over Iran’s potential agreement to a two-week ceasefire, citing a lack of tangible benefits for the country.
Khalilian questioned the merits of the proposal, suggesting that Iran may not derive any significant advantages from it. “Unless we can identify what the Iranians stand to gain from this arrangement, it’s difficult to envision a scenario where they would agree to a two-week lull in hostilities,” she noted in an interview with Al Jazeera.
The proposal, put forth by Pakistan, involves Iran temporarily opening the Strait of Hormuz and the United States extending its deadline. Khalilian’s assessment remains unchanged: “It’s highly improbable that the Iranians will accept this proposal as it currently stands.”
