IRGC Navy Commander to Receive Burial in Abadan Following Fatal Israeli Strike

The funeral of Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’s (IRGC) navy, who was fatally struck by Israel, will take place in Abadan’s main square on Friday, according to the Fars news agency. Tangsiri will be laid to rest in the city’s main cemetery. Fars reported, citing officials in Khuzestan, that the burial will occur in Abadan.

Israel claims Tangsiri was killed in a strike targeting “senior officers of the naval command” last Wednesday. The IRGC announced Tangsiri’s death on Monday, stating he died due to the severity of his injuries. A veteran soldier, Tangsiri played a pivotal role in shaping Iran’s naval doctrine, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, and in developing drones for military maritime use.
