Lebanon Observes a Day of Mourning Amid Escalating Violence

A nationwide day of mourning was decreed in Lebanon following a devastating onslaught of Israeli attacks that claimed the lives of at least 254 people and left over 1,165 others severely injured in a single day. In response, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has pledged to utilize all available political and diplomatic channels to bring an end to the Israeli aggression.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear that Lebanon is not included in the US-Iran ceasefire agreement, a stance echoed by US Vice President JD Vance, who stated unequivocally that such a promise was never made. Conversely, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had played a key role in mediating the ceasefire alongside the country’s army chief, had previously maintained that the agreement encompassed a temporary halt in hostilities in Lebanon.
