Leviathan Gasfield Operations Set to Reboot

Following a month-long hiatus due to regional tensions, Israel’s Leviathan gasfield is poised to restart operations, as announced by the Israeli Energy Ministry in a recent statement. According to Reuters, the offshore facility, managed by Chevron, has been idle since the outbreak of war on February 28.

Following a thorough evaluation of the situation and all pertinent factors, the Energy Ministry has decided to bring the Leviathan platform back online, a spokesperson revealed to Reuters. This move will enable the supply of natural gas to the local market to be bolstered, with the addition of another platform to the production system.

The Leviathan field boasts an estimated 635 billion cubic meters of recoverable reserves, solidifying its position as one of the Eastern Mediterranean’s most substantial natural gas reserves.
