Man Sentenced to Death for Alleged Assault on Iranian Military Facility Executed

A convicted individual, identified as Ali Fahim, has met his demise by hanging, following a Supreme Court decision to uphold his sentence, which was handed down in connection with an alleged January assault on a military site. This development comes on the heels of the executions of two other individuals linked to the same incident, which took place just a day prior.

The Islamic Students News Agency, citing the judiciary, reported on the execution. Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, have condemned the executions as inhumane and raised concerns that many of the defendants’ confessions were extracted under duress, specifically through the use of torture.

The January unrest, which initially stemmed from economic hardship, eventually escalated into a nationwide uprising calling for the overthrow of the government. The authorities’ response to the protests resulted in one of the most violent confrontations in the country since the 1979 revolution, with thousands of people losing their lives in the ensuing chaos.
