Nepal Takes Drastic Measures to Mitigate Fuel Disruption Risks

Nepal’s aviation fuel prices have skyrocketed by significant margins, with international flights from Kathmandu experiencing a 84.7 percent hike, while those operating from Pokhara and Bhairahawa saw increases of 116.2 percent and 117.4 percent respectively. The Nepal Oil Corporation has implemented these price adjustments to ensure timely payment to Indian Oil Corporation for fuel supplies, which are crucial to maintaining a stable supply chain. Domestic flights have also been affected, with a 97.6 percent price increase announced by the state-run agency responsible for importing, storing, and distributing petroleum products within the country. As a direct consequence, domestic airfare has surged by up to 50 percent, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
