Oil Tanker Fully Loaded at Time of Iranian Attack in Dubai Port

The Kuwaiti Petroleum Corporation has released a statement confirming that the Al Salmi, a massive crude oil tanker, was targeted by an Iranian attack while docked in Dubai Port.
According to the corporation, the tanker was completely loaded at the time of the incident, and the assault resulted in significant damage to the ship’s hull. A fire also erupted on board, posing a risk of oil spilling into the surrounding waters.
Fortunately, the corporation reports that no crew members were injured in the attack, and everyone on board is safe.
This incident marks the second reported attack on an oil tanker or ship today. Earlier, reports emerged of an unidentified projectile striking a tanker approximately 31 nautical miles (57km) northwest of the UAE, with all crew members also accounted for.
The Al Salmi attack is particularly concerning due to the tanker’s fully loaded status at the time of the attack, and the ongoing fire on board, which raises concerns about potential oil leakage.
Today has been a tense day across the GCC countries, with Saudi Arabia also experiencing a barrage of attacks. Officials reported that more than 10 drones and nine ballistic missiles were launched at the country, targeting the Eastern Province, where 90 percent of the nation’s energy facilities are located, as well as the Al Kharj governorate, home to the US military base Prince Sultan, and the Riyadh area, where four ballistic missiles landed.
