UN Secretary-General Urges Immediate Ceasefire in Ongoing Conflict

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has announced plans to send his personal envoy to the Middle East in a bid to bolster diplomatic efforts, as he reiterates his appeal for a swift and peaceful resolution to the conflict.
In a stern address to the United States and Israel, Guterres emphasized that it is long overdue for the violence to cease, citing the catastrophic human toll and the severe economic repercussions that have already begun to unfold. He also urged Iran to desist from its aggression towards its neighboring countries.
Guterres, who has consistently advocated for a swift end to the conflict, sounded a warning that the situation is perilously close to escalating into a broader, more destructive war. The UN chief noted that the conflict’s far-reaching impact is being felt globally.
