Erdogan Condemns Israel’s Harsh Sentencing of Palestinians

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has denounced Israel’s imposition of the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners, likening it to the atrocities perpetrated by Adolf Hitler against the Jewish people. According to Turkiye’s Anadolu news agency, Erdogan made these remarks during a gathering of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) Women’s Wing.

In his address, Erdogan accused Israel of perpetuating a more severe form of apartheid, drawing parallels with the notorious regime in South Africa. The newly enacted law dictates that military courts in the occupied West Bank, which exclusively handle cases involving Palestinians, will automatically impose the death penalty on those found guilty by Israel’s judicial system of committing an unlawful act of violence against Israelis, provided the court deems it an act of terrorism.
