Quetta Gladiators spinner Abrar Ahmed has stated that his team is poised to reboot its campaign in the Karachi leg of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) following a lackluster start in Lahore. In an exclusive interview, Abrar revealed that his team has moved beyond its earlier setbacks and is now fully committed to revitalizing its performance. “We’ve put the previous chapter behind us because it didn’t yield the desired results. Now, we’re eager to start anew from here,” he explained. Abrar expressed optimism that the conditions in Karachi will favor bowlers, particularly spinners, as the tournament progresses. Reflecting on Quetta’s performance in Lahore, he acknowledged that the team had squandered opportunities despite being in commanding positions. “We were winning matches but ultimately lost them due to mistakes in the middle order. In a couple of games, including against Islamabad and Karachi Kings, we had control but failed to seal the deal,” he said. Abrar emphasized that the team’s primary objective is collective success rather than individual achievements. “My personal goal is straightforward – to help Quetta Gladiators lift the trophy,” he said. He added that maintaining a good economy rate and bowling consistently is more crucial than leading the wicket charts if it contributes to the team’s success. Discussing modern T20 cricket, Abrar noted that bowlers must be more astute in a format that favors batters. “You need to read the wicket, understand the batter, and adjust your plans accordingly. It’s all about situational bowling,” he elaborated. Abrar also touched on the impact of the absence of crowds, stating that players miss the energy and atmosphere fans bring to the game and expressing hope that supporters will return to the stands soon. Addressing criticism, Abrar stated that he remains focused solely on his performance, stressing that his role is to play cricket and stay committed to his game regardless of the venue.
